News from the Library

George Lee School students are encouraged to take up the Olympic Reading Challenge starting Monday, January 15th until Friday, March 2nd.  Students who participate will receive a reading log with 10 Olympic winter sports listed.  In order to complete each event, the student must read for a minimum of 15 minutes, at home or school, and have a parent/guardian/teacher initial that they have completed the event (eg. if a student reads for 30 minutes they can fill in two events).  Reading with a  parent/guardian/sibling can be counted as minutes too.

When the reading logs are completed, students can place their logs in the draw box in the school library for a chance to win a $15 gift card to Chapters and Canadian Olympic mittens.  New reading logs can be picked up in the library and there is no limit to the number of reading logs that can be completed.  If you would like to print off a copy of the reading log you can also click here.

Thank you to everyone who came out and supported the book fair.  We received $150.00 worth of books for the library and $928.00 in cash to purchase other library resources and support programming in the school.  A special thank you to Laura Wilson and Melissa Kristjansson who donated their time to help run the book fair.  Congratulations to Amber Davies who won the $25 worth of free books for herself and $25 worth of books for her classroom!
